This construction comes from the fifteenth century and is due to the input of the patrons of the city of Badajoz, Lorenzo Suarez de Figueroa. Its plant is slightly trapezoidal, rising from its four towers quadrangular angles. Renaissance Its lines are slightly counting however, with abundant mudejar elements, including windows and especially its small but elegant cloisters.

At present it house the provincial Archeological Museum, whit abundant pieces of prehistoric times, visigoth, arabic, and medieval Christian.
