STRONGHOLD OF THE SAN CRISTOBAL It is placed on the hill of the Orinaza, place chosen in a beginning by Ibn Marwan to locate the city of Badajoz. His works began in the 17th century, as part of a project to strengthen the defenses of the square. It is composed by two small bastions joined by a curtain defended in the northern part by a beautiful lens. In the southern part, two semibastions are joined to the later gullet. A wide pit surrounds the fortification. After the conquest of the square for the Frenchmen in 1811, it got up in the northern part (on a near hill) the lens Verlé today missing.
