REYES CATOLICOS SQUARE

Today known as Plaza of the Kings Catóicos it places opposite to the Door of Palms, space that was occupying in times a great piece of open land known as the Field of the Cross. The name comes from the prmitiva Confraternity, from the Side Cross that was founding in this place his Hospital.

It was a scene of the murder of the Count of the Tower of the Fresno, Goberandor and General Commander of the square, May 30, 1808, as consequence of the disturbances led by a report of the population, and before his apparent passiveness after the proclamation of May 2.

Great part of the historical edifícios that there they existed they were destroyed and the square was urbanized concerning the year 1880.
