In the left margen of the Guadiana, close to the bridge of the Autonomy and presiding at a rotunda, one finds this sculptural group, one of the beautiful mas of Badajoz. It represents the figures and works of three acquaintances poets of the city. Manuel Pacheco, Jesus Delgado Valhondo and Luís Álvarez Draper, that with his distant looks in the old man Anas, they seem to tack afanosamente new heaps and literary creations.

Pedro de Alvarado was born in Badajoz and died in Guadalajara (New Spain) in 1541. It took part in the conquests of the Island of Cuba and in that of Mexico, to Hernán Cortés's orders. He was the great conqueror of Central America. His differences with Pizarro and I Colour with red ochre they excluded him from other conquests. His physical aspect, of high height and blond hair they cost a legend him between the aborigens. Hernando of Soto was born in Barcarrota in the year 1500, having a life of permanent adventure. Adelardo Covarsí was born in Badajoz in 1885, choosing frequently for his works motives authors of novels of manners, such as the natural landscape of Extremaduran tierras, his peoples, and especially the topics related to the hunt and the hunts. The City and the River is a sculptural original group of Juan de Ávalos, composed by two figures: a seated man, that The Guadiana and a woman represents to the river ergida, to the city of Badajoz. The set adorned with several spouts that highlight the figures, evokes the relation between the city of Badajoz and the river, which with his riverbed it kisses, fertilizes and protects the city from immemorial times. This beautiful sculptural group is placed in some of the rotundas of the Avenue Sinforiano Madroñero.

The City of Badajoz sculpture is located at the entrance roundabout to the city from Portugal. Lawyer, magnificent speaker and politician, Jose Moreno Nieto was born in Siruela in the year 1825 and died in Madrid in 1882. Attorney and Professor of the University of Granada, was a president of the Cultural club of Madrid. Militó in the progressive party, and later in the Liberal Union.In 1874 he was nominated A General manager of Instruction Public and Delegated to Spanish Parliament for Badajoz. Monument in bronze and marble, which is raised in Minayo's Plaza.

Ibn Marwan, apodado "El Gallego", fue el fundó la ciudad en el año 875. Caudillo muladí, obtuvo permiso de Córdoba, para levantar una nueva ciudad. Esta fué el feudo familiar y durante casi toda su historia, se mantuvo prácticamente independiente, siendo la capital de la gran Taifa de Badajoz.

Thanks to the impulse and tenacity of the Civil Initiative Bastion and the execution of the monument on the part of the Town hall of Badajoz, our city tells from April 21, 2012, with an Obelisk honoring to all the victims so much civil as military men, that they suffered the warlike events of the Sites of Badajoz in the year 1811 and 1812 (War of the Independence).

The obelisk is in a paruqe placed together with the bastion of Santa Maria, just person under where the allies opened one to of the gaps that allowed the conquest of the city. In the base of the same one, paths figure plates with you them teach or distintibvos of Spain, United Kingdom, France and Portugal, in recollection of the armies who fought for the square.

On initiative of Carlos II, Juan Marín de Rodezno, inhabitant of La Rioja of origin, was named Bishopric of Badajoz, taking possession of his post in November, 1681. The immediate beginning of the War with the neighboring kingdom of Portugal prevented that this one was remodelled in its entirety, remaining his current configuration from the death of the bishop enel year 1706.

Monument to the Hon. Mr. General Rafael Menacho and Tutlló, heroically killed defending the Plaza de Badajoz during the siege of the Napoleonic troops in 1811. On March 4, while directing an exit to harass the French batteries, he was hit by a shrapnel charge that caused his death.
