GARDENS OF THE GALERA
The gardens of The Galley occupy a small but peaceful space placed under the protection of the most former walls and towers of the fort of Badajoz. They occupy a narrow strip of land that passes from this one to west, from the semibastion of San Antonio up to the Tower of The Watchtower or of Espantaperros. Supported on his investor adarve the building of The Galley, one of the former jails of the primitive city, sheltered during a time the Archaeological Museum of Badajoz. Today the place beside containing a small carefully supported járdín, serves also as place of cultural meetings, being organized in the conciertos and diverse contests.
In process of restoration, the surrounding areas of the Old Tower wait for the archaeological activity, to communicate this beautiful environment with the interior of the strength, across an old Arabic gap blocked centuries ago.
